I am NOT worried about the Swine flu. I think the media love to blow everything out of proportion and pump FEAR into our society. Fearful people are way more open to suggestions that the “experts” recommend: vaccines. I think the whole thing is a scam and someone created this virus to serve their own agenda.
The impact of the Swine flue…is a wait and see proposition for me.
There is an interesting article, on one of the business websites today, about the Pandemic in 1917-1918 that claimed millions of people. If you look at the stock market over that same period of time…it performed quite well. So who knows the impact of the swine flu.
Also, interesting that the non-Mexican cases of the flu seem to be very mild. Also Mexico reports something like 6 deaths on Saturday, 4 on Sunday and 2 or 3 on Monday…which they say is declining trend. For all we know…the deaths may be related to something else…and the flu may have been the catalyst that weakened their immune system.
Bottom line…most important…our thoughts and prayers should be with those who have contracted the flu…and those who have lost loved ones.
I’m not worried about swine flu, as long as the government officials continue to fight it proactively, like they are now.
In this light, concerns are overblown.
Your article was on the money: swindlers just come out of the woodwork any time there is a ‘crisis’, and the stock market must spawn or attract them: “Invest in us, and you’ll save the entire planet”, or words to that effect. But, somehow the planet never gets saved. Amazing.

Worried? Not yet. But watching it. It has the *potential* to be bad but it is not bad yet and most likely wont get bad. If our culture (world wide) had any good habits for containing airborne viruses we probably wouldn’t have a problem at all.
As for what it will do to the economy/stocks it wouldn’t have to actually get bad to effect stocks negatively. But then, since I believe our economy needs a genuine revamp to work, it wont really make any difference (to the economy) if a pandemic is part of the path.
